SD and SD-C Series TVS Diodes from Littelfuse Protect Against ESD, Lightning Surges

Monday, June 23, 2014

The SD and SD-C Series 450W Discrete Unidirectional and Bidirectional TVS Diodes from Littelfuse are designed to protect against destructive electrostatic discharges (ESD) and lightning-induced surge currents.

These fast-acting TVS Diodes are ideal for replacing multilayer varistors (MLVs) in low speed and DC applications because they can safely absorb repetitive ESD strikes at ±30kV without performance degradation and safely dissipate up to 30A of surge current.

Their low dynamic resistance provides up to a 50 percent reduction in clamping voltage compared to competing technologies.

Features:
ESD: IEC61000-4-2, ±30kV contact discharge

Lightning: IEC61000-4-5, 30A (tP=8/20?s)

Low dynamic resistance

No inherent wear-out factor

SOD-323 package fits inside existing 0805 passives PCB footprints

AEC-Q101 qualified

Benefits:

Robust surge and enhanced ESD protection permits worry-free product implementations in world’s most challenging environments

Low Dynamic Resistance = Fast acting, low clamping protection; provides up to a 50% reduction in clamping voltage compared to competing technologies, making them ideal for protecting modern electronics

Robust monolithic construction, outlasts equipment that it protects; capable of handling multiple ESD or surge transients without performance degradation

Industry standard footprint, SOD-323 backward compatible with JEDEC 0805
